Vital Shank: Head Coach Darlene Polowy: Club Administrator and Multiple Events/Hurdles Coach: A former hurdler and high jumper at Roland Michener S.S. in South Porcupine. Darlene Polowy has been with TPTFC as a coach and administrator since 1989. A former figure skater with the Ice Capades and a physical education graduate of McMaster University she is married to Mike Polowy, head of physical education at RMSS. The Polowy's are the proud parents of twins, Julia and Victor. Coach Polowy specialises in jumps and hurldes but she has enjoyed a great deal of success at coaching athletes in sprints, long distance running and cross-country. She coached long jumper and sprinter Trina Radske, a Canadian Junior champion and All-American while attending Iowa State on an academic and athletic scholarship. As well she contributed greatly to the development of sprinters Simon and Steve Hogget, all Canadians at the University of Windsor. Mrs. Polowy is a level three coach in sprints and a level two coach in jumps and hurdles. In 1994 the Ontario Track and Field Association selected her as it's 3M coach of the year recipient. TPTFC is very fortunate to have Darlene as it's administrator. She "took over the books" three years ago and her background in small buiseness has benefited us greatly. She coordinates all fund raising and handles all handles all the details of our bingos and nevada sales. Her greatest strengths as a coach and administrator are her organisational skills, her positive attitude and her ability to install discipline and respect in our teenage members. In 2001 our club will be honoured to have Darlene Polowy as one of Ontario's coaches at the Canada Summer Games. Congratulations! Jean St-Amour: Distance Coach Rick Dagenais: Hurdle coach |
